Andrea leads the development of new simulation capabilities in the Irazu software, and carries out consulting and research activities in several fields of geomechanics. His technical interests focus on the numerical simulation of damage development around underground excavations, thermo-hydro-mechanical processes in discontinuous rock masses, and rock seismicity. He is the recipient of the prestigious Manuel Rocha Medal 2015 of the International Society for Rock Mechanics. Andrea holds BSc and MSc degrees in civil engineering from the University of Trieste, Italy, and a PhD degree in civil engineering (rock mechanics) from the University of Toronto, Canada.
