COMPANY HISTORY
The company was formed to provide simulation-aided solutions to challenging rock mechanics problems
Geomechanica Inc. is a privately-owned company incorporated in 2010 in Toronto, Canada, by a group of former University of Toronto scholars.
Finite-discrete
element method
(FDEM)
To achieve the above goal, a state-of-the-art modelling approach, based on the finite-discrete element method (FDEM) has been developed in combination with the adoption of high performance computing techniques. Further R&D efforts resulted in the first commercial version of Geomechanica’s FDEM software Irazu (in 2D) in 2015 and the first 3D version in 2016.
CONSULTING PROJECTS
Since 2012, Geomechanica has been involved in several consulting projects worldwide, including the assessment of the excavation damaged zone for the site selection process of a deep geological repository for nuclear waste.
Rock mechanics

The year 2015, also saw Geomechanica's offering expanded by opening a rock mechanics laboratory serving the civil and mining engineering industries.
